Do I need to supply my own GPS tracker/ E collar?

Nope! We stay up to date with the latest dog tracking/training collars. We run Garmin alpha tt25s and tt20s.

Question 2

Do I need to send my dog with their food?

Accepted Answer

Nope! We will keep your dogs fat and happy while they are in our care.  We feed Purina Pro Plan sport formula. On field trips we will feed breakfast, and dinner, and if needed for puppies or dogs needing more calories during a day of hunting we will also feed lunch.The only exemption for this is dogs requiring a specific diet where we are not able to accommodate in short notice.  Dogs being boarded with special dietary needs will be worked with but we require a weeks notice before drop off so we can accommodate for their needs. Any cost above our normal in house feeding will be absorbed by the owner.

Do you shoot birds for my dog?

Accepted Answer

This is dependent heavily on the level of training the dog is currently at.  We need to be aware of the method that was used to gun acclimate them.  We follow a very strict gun acclimation process and are not willing to deviate from our method or make exceptions.  We pride ourselves in producing dogs that love the gun and love the field so putting gun acclimation at risk is not worth creating a gun shy dog.  We will talk during consultation about whether or not your dog is ready for the gun.

Do you provide gun acclimation?

At this moment we are not gun acclimating dogs. However, we are more than happy to consult about what you've done so far and give suggestions.  For the time being we will refer clients needing gun acclimation to Perfection kennels.  They offer videos, clinics, and one on ones.

Question 5

Do you provide broke dog training?

Not at the moment.  Our primary focus is to take dogs out and build drive by working on wild birds.  We are happy to take broke dogs on field trips and maintain their level of training.Again for broke dog training we refer clients to Perfection Kennels.

Question 6

How do I know my dog will be safe?

We run our dogs like airplanes are flown. With redundant safety measures.  Any time we have a dog down they are going to be wearing two collars. One stand alone GPS tracker and another dual purpose GPS/E-collar.  Here at Puplanders our dogs are our family, and we hold our own and others extremely close to heart so we put every ounce of our being into keeping them safe.In addition to redundant tracking systems, we also carry a fully stocked medical kit to handle emergency transportation, allergic reactions, and skin lacerations.  Were also lucky to have a MedVet emergency hospital within two hours of almost all of our hunting locations for situations needing professional veterinary care.

Can I  communicate with you while my dogs on a field trip?

Due to the remote locations of where we find wild Chukar, I tell our clients that we will most likely not be able to communicate readily while out on field trips.  However in the event of emergency situations we carry a satellite phone to be able to notify you of any emergency situations. And once we are back in cell phone service we will send an update throughout the day or on our return trip from our field trip.

Do you guarantee my dog will find birds?

Wild bird hunting is never a guaranteed endeavor, however we always do everything we can to find birds by going to hot spots, past locations we've consistently found birds at, and by having a good understanding of the specific environmental needs to support a wild chukar population.  For our younger clients we will supplement a rough wild bird day with pigeons at the end of an unsuccessful brace.  We need our young impressionable puppies to have bird contact 100 percent of the time.  It is crucial to a young bird dog to have consistent bird contact every time they are out and we will make it happen even if we have to supplement with pigeons.  Although we always prefer the wild counterparts!

Will you take pictures or videos of my dog on their field trip?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Although we are handlers/trainers first, we are amateur photographers as well!  We bring an action camera with us on our braces and will use our phone cameras to take photos of your dog on point or engaging with birds if the opportunity presents itself!

What type of payments do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept cash, checks, venmo or zelle.  Credit/Debit cards are not accepted.

Question 11

What are vaccination expectations?

Accepted Answer

Dogs must be up to date all required vaccines, and are required to be up to date on the rattlesnake vaccine.  Vaccination records are required to be provided to Puplanders.
